Bihar DGP removed abruptly

PATNA, DEC. 14. The sudden removal of Mr. K. A. Jacob from the post of DGP of Bihar only 18 days before his superannuation is being viewed in political circles as a snub by the RJD-led government for having accorded a warm welcome to the former Additional DGP and now Chattisgarh Governor, Mr. D. N. Sahay, here on Monday.

Though there was no official statement on the sudden removal of Mr. Jacob, due to retire on Dec. 31, sources said this may have something to do with the fact that he, accompanied by a host of senior IPS officers, had gone to the airport on Monday to receive for Sahay, who was on his first visit to the State capital after taking over as the Governor of Chattisgarh.

Mr. Jacob also hosted a dinner in honour of Mr. Sahay in which several retired and serving IPS officers participated.

The sources said the outgoing DGP's action had irked the ruling RJD as Mr. Sahay is an appointee of the BJP-led government at the Centre.
