Opposition finds PM's musings inconsistent
Each time the Prime Minister, Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee, says something on the Ram temple controversy, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) responds by saying he had remained consistent and truly reflected the party's views. But other political parties and the media see nothing consistent about it.

Pak. fishermen sentenced
The Dwarka civil court today sentenced 133 Pakistani fishermen to one-and-a-half years imprisonment and imposed on them a fine of Rs. 5,000 for unauthorised entry into Indian territory.

North India powerless for 12 hours
The entire North India went without power for almost 12 hours from 4- 45 a.m. on Tuesday. It was only at 4 p.m. on Tuesday that the supply was resumed in a phased manner. The magnitude of the collapse of the northern grid - covering Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan - was such that the Central Government instituted an inquiry to find the cause of the failure and also fix responsibility. The inquiry committee has been given one week to file its report.

Five killed in copter crash
Tragedy hit this tourist resort today as a helicopter chartered by DLF Company crashed around noon killing five persons including the pilot. The sixth passenger - wife of the DLF Chairman, Mr. K. P. Singh - has been rushed to Delhi with serious injuries.Several people saw the ill-fated helicopter falling down. Smashing through trees, it fell on the Lyndale estate owned by Mr. Singh.
