Ways to reduce waste
GARBAGE IS not a dirty word any more and is, in fact, the subject
of even a Cambridge University doctoral thesis - Chennai garbage
has been studied by a scholar of the Sidney Sussex College,
Cambridge over the last four years.
One would have thought that the Chennai Corporation would go to
town over reduction of garbage and other such urban concerns.
Someone in cyberspace is doing that, only it is not Ripon
Building. Click on to Home Exnora at its new website
www.jayahey.com/exnora, which was formally launched on Monday,
and get pointers to good practices on garbage.
For Exnora, the website is a convenient new-age tool to create
awareness, and it proves powerful.
For instance, its galleries page, showcases success stories where
Exnora has influenced residents to fight for their own cause.
Exnora demonstrates, using these pictures, how simple measures
can solve apparently complex problems. Exnora, unlike most other
organisations, manages to effectively translate its off-line
brand image on the Internet. It has simple features like online
individual and organisation volunteer listing.
The website, supported by Jayahey.com, was inaugurated by the
Mayor, Mr. M. K. Stalin.
