Centre to release all documents on Netaji
KOLKATA, JAN. 23. The Centre will release all documents required
by the Mukherjee Commission to inquire into the mystery behind
the disappearance of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, the Railway
Minister, Ms. Mamata Banerjee, told presspersons here today. It
was willing to help the Commission pursue the matter
`objectively' and reach a conclusion on the disappearance of
Netaji in 1945.
Earlier, she spoke on the occasion of Netaji's 104th birth
anniversary celebration at the Netaji Bhavan. The West Bengal
Governor, Mr. Viren J. Shah, recounted his brief meeting with the
``extraordinarily great person'' when Netaji was Congress
president, and called for ``translating his dreams into
reality''.
The Union Minister of State for Communications, Mr. Tapan Sikdar,
released a stamp on Netaji.
Netaji's compatriot and chief of INA's Rani of Jhansi Regiment,
Col. Lakshmi Sahgal, said the legendary leader had died in the
Taihoku plane crash and there was no need to ``set up commission
after commission to inquire into his so-called disappearance''.
