Collectors to find land for FRIENDS

By Our Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JAN. 23. The Government has directed Collectors to find land for setting up FRIENDS (Fast, Reliable, Instant, Efficient Network for Disbursement of Service) centres at the district headquarters before January 31.

This follows a Cabinet decision last week to set up the centres in all districts other than Thiruvananthapuram. (Thiruvananthapuram already has a centre set up in June last year).

An official release said the city Corporations or municipalities were to provide the land for the centre free of charge at the district headquarters. The Collectors were to find two project managers for each centre before January 25.

The centre will have counters for the citizens to remit various bills and fees payable to Revenue, Civil Supplies and Motor Vehicles Departments, Kerala Water Authority, Kerala State Electricity Board, universities and local bodies.
