MCH urged to keep surroundings clean
By Our Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD, JAN. 23. The Air Force authorities here on Tuesday
appealed to the municipal authorities concerned and the people to
keep the surroundings of Parade Grounds clean and not to throw
any garbage that attracts birds in view of the fly past being
planned for January 26.
Talking to presspersons, Air Vice Marshal A.M. Gandhi,
Commandant, College of Air Warfare, Secunderabad, said it was for
the first time a fly past was being carried out on the occasion
of the Republic Day celebrations.
Three helicopters would drop petals on the chief guest and then
six `Kiran' aircraft would take over. The programme ends with
bombers, he said.
Expressing concern over the garbage dumps in and around Monda
Market, he urged MCH officials to clear the garbage. He urged the
people also not to throw any garbage on the streets as it might
lead to birds converging in the airspace that the display was
supposed to occupy.
Any bird-hit could be disastrous not only to the Air Force
personnel manning the aircraft but also to those on the ground,
he said. In the event of such accident, the Air Force would be
forced suspend its shows in future, he cautioned.
Referring to the memorial and pillar being planned, he said the
proposal was sent to the State Government and the latter would be
allocating the site for it.
