BJC merges with NCP

PATNA, JAN. 23. In a significant development, the Bharatiya Jan Congress of the former Bihar Chief Minister, Mr. Jagannath Mishra, today merged with the Nationalist Congress Party of the former Maharashtra Chief Minister, Mr. Sharad Pawar, paving the way for fresh realignment of political forces in Bihar.

Mr. Mishra's proposal for merger was passed by voice vote in the presence of the NCP leaders like Mr. Sharad Pawar, Mr. Tariq Anwar, the Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Chhagan Bhujbal, the State NCP president, Mr. N.K. Sahi, and Mr. Aslam Sher Khan, at a merger conference at crowded S.K. Memorial Hall here.
