4 killed in Pak.

ISLAMABAD, JAN. 26. The earthquake that devastated parts of
Gujarat has also affected Pakistan. Though the magnitude of the
quake as measured on the Richter Scale was high, it has not
caused much damage.
According to the Pakistan Television the maximum impact of the
quake was felt in the Sindh province. Preliminary estimates
suggest that at least four persons were killed in the province
and six injured as the quake was experienced in several cities.
PTV reported that the quake measured 6.2 on the Richter scale and
was felt throughout Pakistan, including the major cities of
Lahore, Karachi and Peshawar.
Musharraf offers condolences
AFP reports:
Pakistan's military ruler, General Pervez Musharraf, today
offered his condolences to the people of India after a severe
earthquake rocked the region, killing hundreds.
In a letter to the Prime Minister, Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee, Gen.
Musharraf said the ``government and people of Pakistan share the
grief of the bereaved families.''
``I have been saddened at the tragic loss of life and property in
the earthquake which hit large parts of India today,'' he said in
his letter, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.
