Girl burnt to death

RAIGARH, JAN. 26. In a bizarre incident, a 13-year-old girl was burnt to death on Wednesday after she spurned the advances of a youth in neighbouring Korba district, police said. According to police, 20-year-old Sushil Gupta had initially teased Gayatri. Later, her mother complained about the incident to the youth's mother.

Enraged over the complaint, Sushil and his two friends, Manoj Gupta and Inesh Goswami, went to Gayatri's house when she was alone, allegedly tied her up, poured petrol and set her afire. They then fled from the scene, police said.

On hearing her cries, the neighbours rushed in and took her to hospital, where she succumbed to injuries, police said. The trio was booked under Sections 302 and 450 of the IPC and the body has been sent for post-mortem, police added.
