Four Coal India officials rescued
TINSUKIA (Assam), JAN. 26. The Army today rescued four Coal India
officials from the clutches of NSCN(IM) militants from village
Mulung in Tinsukia district of Assam, official sources here said.
Acting on a tip-off, the Army conducted an operation to apprehend
the ultras, who had earlier held hostage four officials and sent
an extortion note to their office demanding a substantial amount.
During the operation, the ultras managed to escape, but the four
officials were rescued and brought back safely, the sources said.
This was a major success for the security forces who had earlier
busted a NSCN(IM) camp near Miao in Arunachal Pradesh on January
16 and in another incident arrested one activist on January 23
and recovered Rs. 2 lakhs from him.
