By Our Staff Reporter
KOZHIKODE, JAN. 27. The Chief Minister, Mr. E. K. Nayanar, has
said that self-sufficiency in the energy sector will greatly
benefit the State in moving ahead with its industrialisation
proposals.
He was speaking after commissioning the Rs. 160-crore 50 MW
Kuttiyadi Extension Project near here today.
Mr. Nayanar also laid the foundation stone for the 100 MW
Additional Extension Project. Mr. Nayanar said his Government had
achieved tremendous progress in the power sector. What was
achieved by the State was 72 per cent above the national average
achievement, he claimed.
Since the Pallivasal project set up in 1940, more than 12
projects had been implemented in the State in the last 56 years.
However, the pace of development in the energy sector has been
phenomenal in the last five years. The progress of 500 MW

be provided power connections. Since the LDF Government came to
power, more than 15.40 lakh connections have been given.
The Electricity Minister, Mr. S. Sarma, who presided, said the
Kuttiyadi project had been completed in a record time. The
switch-on of the 110 KV switch yard was performed by the
Transport Minister Mr. C. K. Nanu. Ms. M. K. Premajam, MP, Ms.
