Rumours of tremors
By Nirupama Subramanian
COLOMBO, FEB. 1. Rumours of a mild quake in Sri Lanka gained
strength after the State-run Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation
(SLBC) announced today that a government scientist had felt a
series of tremors in an upmarket neighbourhood of the capital on
Wednesday evening. The SLBC's evening news bulletin said
employees of a government retail outlet in the area confirmed
this, but added that the Meteorological Department had no such
information.
