33 FDI proposals cleared

NEW DELHI, FEB. 10. The Union Commerce and Industry Minister, Mr.
Murasoli Maran, today cleared 33 proposals for foreign direct
investment worth Rs. 362 crores. These include the proposal of a
software company, iFrameIndia. Com's for development of software
in the Internet and Internet-based applications involving an
investment of Rs. 138 crores.
The proposals have been cleared on the basis of recommendations
made by the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB), according
to an official release.
The other proposals for investment in the software sector include
one by IBM India for manufacturing, marketing and export of
computer systems and network product software. There is also a
proposal by Marconi Communication of the U.K. for setting up a
100 per cent subsidiary in this country with an estimated
investment of Rs. 23 crores.
