The week ahead

THIS week there is a Sun-Uranus-Mercury conjunction in Aquarius, which implies that you should be on the lookout and expect the unexpected! Uranus is the planet of startling and unplanned events - the energy of the Sun and Mercury will increase its strength. Don't be surprised by what comes out of anyone's mouth this week, including your own. People may be more blunt than usual, but their frankness will signify their truthfulness. Once you get over your shock, give what you have heard some consideration. It may not have sounded pretty, but it is likely to be enlightening.

Queries answered

If the lord of a Kendra or that of a Kona occupies the Twelfth House, what will be the results?

P. V. H. Prasada Row, Vijayawada.

Planets owning Kendras 1, 4, 7, and 10 and Konas 1, 5 and 9 are taken as doers of good. One owning a Kendra as also a Kona (as Saturn does for Thula Lagna), is a Yoga Karaka. The Twelfth House is not altogether bad. It signifies spiritual inclinations and righteous traits too. The role of a planet in the Twelfth must be examined in relation to Exaltation/Debilitation and Ownership. For Simha Lagna, Mars - owning Fourth and Ninth - is a Yoga Karaka. But if he is in the Twelfth (Kataka), his debilitation can bring ill effects; yet, if the Moon-owning Kataka is exalted, the debilitation ills of Mars can be cancelled. The strengths of Lagna and Lagna lord, and the effects of the operation of Mahadasas and Bhukthis, must be carefully studied to make reliable estimates.
