Shoot orders in Asthawan
PATNA, FEB. 18. Shoot- at-sight orders were issued and security
beefed up in view of tomorrow's bypoll in Bihar's Asthawan
Assembly constituency. The Director General of Police, Mr. R.R.
Prasad, today said police would not hesitate to open fire to
prevent booth grabbing.
The Uttar Pradesh Government has maintained high security to
ensure a free and smooth poll for tomorrow's byelections in
Bhartana in Etawah district, Siwalkhas in Meerut and Sarsawa in
Saharanpur district, a report from Lucknow said.
Nearly 12.5 Lakh voters will decide the fate of five candidates,
in the Hindoli Assembly seat in Rajasthan. Elaborate security
arrangements have been made to ensure free and fair poll.
