Wright happy with spinners' performance
CHENNAI, FEB. 18. The conditioning camp for the Indian cricket
probables ahead of the major Test campaign against Australia
concluded at the IIT- Chemplast ground here on Sunday, with a
piece of worrying news.
Speaking to presspersons coach John Wright revealed that master
batsman Sachin Tendulkar had a calf strain, while paceman Ajit
Agarkar, an ankle problem.
However, he added these were only niggling injuries. The two
cricketers have opted out of the three-day Mumbai- Australia
match commencing on February 22. Wright also stressed on the
importance of fitness, and expressed satisfaction over the
performances of the spinners without singling out any one bowler.
Calling it one of the best camps he attended, Indian captain
Sourav Ganguly said the players worked hard in all the aspects of
the game. ``When we got back to the hotel we were tired. That
showed how tough it was.''
Ganguly was pleased with India `A's performance against
Australia, but said he did not expect Australia to recover from
133 for seven on the first day. The skipper, who sounded
confident about the country's chances in the Tests, was not
willing to predict the score-line at the end of the series
though.
