Haryana Govt. denies MLA's charges

By Our Special Correspondent

CHANDIGARH, FEB. 18. A spokesman of the Haryana State Industrial Development Corporation (HSIDC) on Saturday denied allegations levelled by the lone Republican Party of India MLA, Mr. Karan Singh Dalal, that the HSIDC was allotting industrial plots to Delhi industrialists after taking illegal gratification.

He asserted that the allegations levelled by Mr. Dalal were totally baseless, and politically motivated. He said that the charge was nothing but a figment of Mr. Dalal's imagination and a ploy to defame his political opponents. He clarified that the HSIDC had been making allotment of industrial plots for its various industrial estates through an Instant Allotment Camp organised at New Delhi for the benefit of Delhi industrialists, who had to shift their units from Delhi following a verdict of the Supreme Court of India.

He categorically stated that the selection process adopted by the Corporation had been completely transparent and there had not been even a single complaint whatsoever from any applicant so far. In fact, the Delhi industrialists had urged the Haryana Government and the HSIDC before the members of the print and electronic media for coming to their rescue at the time of crisis. He said that during the two camps organised by the HSIDC in December last year and February this year, 1,615 plots had been allotted. ``The figures speak volumes for the transparent system adopted by the Corporation by accommodating maximum number of applicants,'' he added.

In view of the over-whelming response to these camps, the Chief Minister, Mr. Om Prakash Chautala, ordered the transfer of 588 acres of prime land at Rai for development of an industrial estate and accommodating maximum number of affected Delhi units. Out of about 1,900 plots carved out in this estate, about 1,100 plots had been allotted to the genuine applicants within less than 50 days of announcement. He further clarified that the State Government was committed to the implementation of the original Agricultural Marketing Project at Rai expeditiously, which got virtually shelved during the preceding decade when Mr. Dalal himself was Minister for Agriculture.
