Six pilgrims killed as maxi-cab rams lorry

BIJAPUR, FEB. 21. Six persons were killed and 17 injured when the maxi-cab in which they were travelling rammed a lorry parked between Nidagundi and Alamatti on National Highway 13 on Wednesday morning.

The dead were identified as Shashikant Tukaram Narayanakar, his children, Subash and Avujabai, Bhaganna Saidappa Ingale, S.S. Biradar and Ashok Manohar Narayanakar.

They were among 25 persons who were on a pilgrimage to Koodalasangama from Salotagi village in Indi taluk, on the occasion of Mahashivarathri.

Thirteen of the injured were admitted to the civil hospital here. The condition of three of them was said to be critical. Four persons who sustained minor injuries were treated at Nidagundi Primary Health Centre.
