Mild tremors in Ernakulam district
By Our Staff Reporter
KOCHI, FEB. 21. Mild tremors were experienced in several parts of
Kothamangalam, Angamaly, Perumbavoor and Kalady here today. The
tremors were felt at 11.35 a.m. Residents ran out of their houses
following the tremors which were similar to the one experienced
in these areas in December last. Huge sounds were experienced by
the residents two weeks back.
Panic spread in the area as the vibrations felt today were
followed by a huge sound. People participating in a meeting in a
church at Malayattoor ran out after hearing the echoing sound. No
casualties were reported.
The Kalady police said there were no reports of damage of houses
in the area. The tremor lasted only a few minutes.
Some houses near Koovapady, Kodanad and Okkal were slightly
damaged following the tremor. Other places which experienced the
tremor include Kottamam, Manjapra, Ellithodu and Mulankuzhi here.
