BSE chief offers to quit
By Our Special Correspondent
MUMBAI, MARCH 7. The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) president, Mr.
Anand Rathi, has offered to submit his resignation to the Board
of the exchange which is meeting tomorrow. This comes in the wake
of allegations of his involvement in a recent crisis in the stock
market. However, he has denied all the allegations.
In a press statement, Mr. Rathi said that in the last few days
allegations were being made against the BSE and particularly its
office-bearers. ``Since the BSE has made phenomenal progress in
the last few years on all the fronts, whenever any problems
appear in the market efforts are made to target the BSE, but the
names of other exchanges are not even mentioned in these reports,
though there is substantial turnover in such exchanges.''
