Kodak to unveil digital minilab

MUMBAI, MARCH 19. Consumer imaging major Kodak India (KIL) is all set to introduce a state-of-the-art digital minilab in India by this month-end.

Priced at Rs. 35 lakhs and known as `System 88', the minilab is an advanced version of the company's picture maker series to be unveiled at the forthcoming Photoasia Exhibition on March 23, senior vice-president (consumer imaging), Mr. Rajesh Singh, told PTI here today.

The minilab would produce images from 35 mm and advanced photo system films with resulting prints on conventional silver halide paper, he said.

In the consumer imaging segment, Mr. Singh said, the company expected a 20 per cent growth in the camera sales coupled with enhanced capacity of their manufacturing plants in Bangalore and Goa.

Incidentally, Kodak's `KB10' a 35 mm automatic camera has achieved a one million sales mark thus covering over 50 per cent market share in the manual camera segment.

`KB10' contributed Rs. 70 crores to the company's total sales income for the financial year 2000-01, company managing director, Mr. R. S. Mani, said. The company recently exported three lakh units to the U.S., West Asia and Europe, he added.
