One killed in Bihar police firing
PATNA, MARCH 24. One person was killed and two others wounded
when the police opened fire to quell a violent mob trying to
resist the arrest of a dreaded criminal at Brahmapur village
under Raghunathpur police station of Buxar district today, police
said.
The Bihar Director-General of Police, Mr. R. R. Prasad, told PTI
that police had to fire in self defence to disperse violent mob
trying to thwart the arrest of the notorious outlaw, Mili
Choudhury, by pelting stones. Several policemen were injured in
the incident.
Mr. Prasad said Chaudhary was arrested. Later his supporters
blocked the tracks near Raghunathpur railway station for a few
hours but the jam was cleared soon and rail traffic was now
normal.
