Jogi rushes to Delhi
By Our Principal Correspondent
RAIPUR, APRIL 5.The Chhatisgarh Chief Minister, Mr. Ajit Jogi,
today rushed to New Delhi in connection with the deadlock over
the Bharat Aluminium Company Limited issue, following talks with
the senior Congress leader, Ms. Ambika Soni.
The CPI(M) leader, Mr. Harkishan Singh Surjit, is also believed
to have impressed upon Mr. Jogi the need to resolve the issue
amicably, keeping in mind the fate of thousands of BALCO
employees.
The Union Mines Minister, Mr. Sunder Lal Patwa, is said learnt to
have offered to hold talks with the State Government, provided
Mr. Jogi participates personally and the discussion revolves
round the employees' service conditions only.
The Centre had invited the State Government and the trade unions
for talks in New Delhi on March 21, but it was turned down by the
trade unions. Mr. Patwa again wrote to Mr. Jogi on April 1, to
which the Chief Minister has responded positively.
