Film Review: ``Nakshatra Kaadhal''

MESSAGES DO not make a good film. A story should be made into an interesting screenplay to make the audience sit through it. When a director introduces new faces he must make sure that there are scenes and shots which carry weight. The dialogue should be up to the mark and if all these are in order then the director can improvise the subject to his way of film making.

NRI production Ltd ``Nakshatra Kaadhal'' has been made with messages, one of which that one should not believe in astrology or the stars. It is also not good for a young man to be chasing women all the time. The director also wants to say that AIDS should be eradicated. These messages have to be woven into the story if the film has to be palatable.

The director has not concentrated on anything nor does he have the power to take the film on his shoulders to make it interesting. The screenplay has nothing to offer and the scenes are not up to the mark. The cast, which includes Ashok Rao who has starred in films and TV serials, has not been able to redeem the film.

Ajay, the hero, is wasted. Pathy as Ashok, the young man who is afflicted with AIDS and dies, fails to evoke sympathy.

The story, screenplay, dialogue and direction are by Nayagam. The film is produced by Kannamma and Vedha.
