YSR's pleas against CM dismissed

By Our Legal Correspondent

HYDERABAD, APRIL 6. The review petitions filed by Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy and other Congress leaders seeking to reopen the writ petitions (which were withdrawn), filed against the Chief Minister, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu, were dismissed by a Division Bench of the A.P. High Court, comprising the Chief Justice, Mr. Satyabrata Sinha, and Mr. Justice B. Subhashan Reddy, on Friday.

It may be recalled that several writ petitions were filed by Congress leaders before the Assembly elections, seeking an inquiry and action against the Chief Minister in the A.P. High Court. These were withdrawn on December 12, 2000. Subsequently, a writ petition was filed in the Delhi High Court. The Delhi High Court inquired whether the writ petitions filed in the A.P. High Court were withdrawn with permission to file similar cases later on.

Dr. Y. S. Rajasekhar Reddy, leader of the Congress Legislature Party, then filed the present review petitions in the A.P. High Court. The other Congress leaders who were petitioners of the writ pleas, which were withdrawn in December 2000, entreated the court to reopen the cases and hear them.
