Carbone Lorraine assembles largest heat exchanger

CHENNAI, APRIL 22. Carbone Lorraine (I) Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Carbone Lorraine group of France, has assembled the largest polytube (shell & tube) heat exchanger of the kind for phosphoric acid application. The parent company has so far invested about $7 million for setting up three plants in India. It planned further investments to bring in more products in a phased manner, said Mr. V. I Perumal, Managing Director.

The company is importing all critical parts for making various sizes of heat exchanger. It has two plants here in Chennai for assembling heat exchanger for chemical plants and producing carbon brushes for automobile units. The Bangalore unit manufactures carbon brushes for various applications and electrical fuses.

Carbone Lorraine of France commenced its operations in 1892 and is now operating in about 40 countries. According to Mr. Perumal, the parent company has leadership positions in carbon brushes and anticorrosive applications.
