Illusion and reality
TOWARDS THE CREATOR: Dr. B. N. Singh, Chairman and Managing
Director, Rashtriya Ispat Nigham Ltd.,Visakhapatnam Steel Plant,
Administrative Building, Vishakapatnam-530031.
THE AUTHOR should have had enough inspiration to write this book,
the contents of which are far removed from his daily grind as the
chief executive of a major public sector unit. He starts his
little book of 77 pages with a perception of the Creator as a
formless entity ``in its ultimate state of Supreme Divine'' by
most of the religions of the world. It is doubtful whether the
significance of this seemingly simple reality is fully grasped by
every one and how it is far removed from what is seen and known
in daily life.
The author then proceeds to discuss the concept of Maya rooted in
Indian philosophy and one is not quite sure whether the word
``illusion'' projects its very mystifying quality in all its
comprehensiveness. The complexity of the Creator's
incomprehensible logic which could be seen from the spectrum of
presences spreading from saints to rapists and criminals is
discussed by the author, who says that it is explained in the
theory of rebirth.
The absorbing book ends with a chapter on the post-Vedic Dharma
Sastras and lives up to the projection of it as a precise summary
of the essential aspects of Hinduism, Vedic tradition and
literature.
The author's writing should also start a run of thought on
reality and illusion. Having written such an illuminating book,
it is rather surprising he has intended it only for private use
and not for sale.
