BALCO stir continues
RAIPUR, MAY 2. The BALCO trade unions today announced that a
decision would be taken on May 4 on the new management's offer to
resolve the dispute over privatisation even as they maintained
that they were continuing the strike.
The core committee of the seven trade unions met in Korba today
in the light of Supreme Court's offer on Tuesday whether the
workers were willing to end the strike accepting two months'
salary for the strike period.
The BALCO Sanyukt Abhiyan Samiti leader, Mr. Brahma Singh, said
``the workers are not prepared to resume duty after taking two
months' advance. It was therefore decided to continue the
strike.''
