Gandhi Hospital to be shifted
By Our Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD, MAY 3. The State Government has decided to shift
Gandhi Hospital, the Gandhi Medical College and the hostels from
their existing premises to the precincts of the Musheerabad Jail.
The Musheerabad Jail was shifted to its new location at
Cherlapalli, and doctors and staff of Gandhi Hospital have been
agitating for a few months demanding shifting of the Hospital to
the premises vacated by the jail.
The decision was taken at a review meeting held by the Chief
Minister, Mr. N.Chandrababu Naidu, here today.
According to the CM's Office, though the requirement for the new
hospital was only 15 acres of land, the Chief Minister instructed
officials to allocate another two acres of extra land for other
purposes. The Chief Minister directed officials to construct
Gandhi Hospital with the Rs. 40-crore loan sanctioned by the
HUDCO and to equip it with the state-of-the-art equipment so that
it could become a role model to other Government hospitals.
The Home Minister, Mr. T.Devender Goud, the Minister for Roads
and Buildings, Mr. K.Vijayarama Rao, Dr. Alladi Rajkumar, MP, Mr.
T.Srinivas Yadav, MLA, the Special Chief Secretary, Medical &
Health, Mr. C.Arjun Rao, the General Manager, South Central
Railway, Mr. Krithivasan, and other senior officials were
present.
