SCI, 3 others to launch INDFEX service
By Our Staff Correspondent
MUMBAI, MAY 3. The Shipping Corporation of India (SCI), K-Line of
Japan, PIL of Singapore and Dongnama of Korea have announced
their plan for launching the INDFEX service.
The INDFEX service is a direct fully container shipping service
with fixed day weekly sailing with the port rotation of JNP,
Colombo, Singapore, Hong Kong, Busan, Hong Kong, Singapore,
Colombo and JNP between the Indian sub-continent and the ports on
the Far East with a call at Shanghai under construction. The
service is to be flagged off on June 1 at Busan (South Korea).
All four partners will be deploying fully cellular ships in the
new service, which will be around 1,400 TEUs capacity each.
The service will provide the fastest option to shippers with a
direct transit time of 17 days between JNP and Busan, the nodal
ports in the new service. At present, most of the existing lines
in the trade are offering service between India and Far East with
transhipment at Singapore / Port Kelang.
All four partners are already well established in the trade and
have tested the market by operating relay services through feeder
operation, slot charter arrangements. It is expected that in
future, cargo volumes will increase especially from the Chinese
ports, Hong Kong and Korea and the INDFEX service will be well
placed to meet the burgeoning requirements of the trade.
