Cong. challenges PM to order probe

Guwahati, May 6. (PTI): The Congress today challenged the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister to order a CBI probe into the alleged nexus between political party and the ultras within 24 hours or else apologise to the people for charging the party for having links with the ULFA.

"The Prime Minister and the Home Minister should order the CBI probe or a judge nominated by the Chief Justice be asked to probe into the matter or else apologise," Congress general secretary Kamal Nath told a press conference here.

Refuting the allegation of Congress-ULFA nexus, Kamal Nath regretted that Prime Minister Vajpayee made the allegation in a public meeting here yesterday without having any evidence. "The Prime Minister neither hears nor reads Congress condemnation of the killings when he alleged that the party was silent on the issue," he said.
