U.S. out of drugs panel
UNITED NATIONS, MAY 8. The U.S. has lost its seat on the
International Narcotics Control Board to which India and five
other countries were elected.
The U.S. candidate, Mr. Herbert Okun, standing for a third term,
lost in the first round in the economic and social council, U.N.
announced yesterday.
The voting took place the same day the U.S. was ousted from the
Human Rights Commission but results were not announced then.
