Trade panel reconstituted

NEW DELHI, MAY. 8. The Government has reconstituted the advisory committee on International trade which was set up in January 1999 with the Commerce and Industry Minister, Mr. Murasoli Maran presiding over it. The committee was set up to advise the government on formulation of international trade policy.

The reconstituted committee includes Dr. M. S. Swaminathan, Dr. Abid Hussain, the former Commerce Secretary, Mr. P. P. Prabhu, the former Foreign Secretary, Mr. Muchkund Dubey, the former Ambassador to GATT, Mr. B. L. Das, the Director General of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, Dr. R.A. Mashelkar, , the Director, ICRIER, Dr. Isher Judge Ahluwalia, Dr. V. A. Pai Panandiker of the Centre for Policy Research, the FICCI Secretary General, Dr. Amit Mitra, the CII Director General, Mr. Tarun Das, the director of Research and Information Systems (RIS), Dr. V.R. Panchamukhi, the Editor of Economic and Political Weekly, Mr. Krishna Raj, the Gene Campaign Convenor, Ms. Suman Sahai and the Director-General, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Mr. K. Dharmarajan.

Senior officials in the committee are the Commerce Secretary, Mr. Prabir Sengupta and Special Secretary, Commerce, Mr. Nripendra Mishra.
