Package for khadi units

NEW DELHI, MAY 14. The Government today announced a Rs. 1,215- crore five-year package for the khadi and village industry sector, including designation of khadi as a heritage product and an insurance scheme for workers.

``The Prime Minister, Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee, has agreed to a five-year package for the khadi and village industry sector on the basis of the recommendations made by a high-powered committee,'' the Minister of State, Ms. Vasundhara Raje, told reporters.
