GE's digitised initiative
CHENNAI: The General Electric Company (GE) has launched GE Global
Technology Solutions, a new software business in India to support
the digitisation initiatives of key GE business worldwide. The
new company will mainly provide software services to the GE
Aircraft Engines and GE Appliances business globally and will be
based in Bangalore. The company will recruit up to 300 IT
professionals who will specialise in developing advanced software
solutions in the area of legacy technologies, client server
technologies, E-commerce solutions and ERP, according to a
release.
Lisletech ties up with X-Lab
BANGALORE: The U.S. headquartered Lisle Technology partners,
Lisletech, with a fully owned subsidiary and a profit centre in
Bangalore, has announced a strategic tie up with X-laboratories,
for core technology development. Lislietech is a leading advanced
technology development firm while X-Laboratories is a technology
operating company which filters, develops and commercialises core
technology identified at major research labs and other government
and private facilities. The project would be executed, in part,
out of Lisletech's development centre at Bangalore, a company
release said here.

IndiaEngineering's first global auction
CHENNAI: IndiaEngineering.com, a procurement and asset disposal
exchange recently concluded the first ever global synchronous-
telebid internet onsite) auction in association with
GoIndustry.com for Planet Times, Hyderabad. It provided solutions
for disposal of assets of Planet Times by conducting an online
global synchronous TIO auction event. The auction is worth Rs.
1.65 crores.
Smartcc.com's prepaid cash card
CHENNAI: Smartcc.com, the Bangalore based company offering
Internet payment solutions, has introduced `green', the pre-paid
cash card for the Internet. In the introductory phase, it will be
available in denominations of Rs. 100, 250 and Rs. 500. It is
available in Chennai across a vast array of retail outlets. It
can be used as a payment option in nine sites in India which
offer online shopping. These are bargainsbazar.com, buyasone.com,
9 cheers.com, fabmart.com, lexsite.com, malamall.com,
musicworld4u.com and rediff.com.
Telecom meet in Hong Kong
NEW DELHI: Hong Kong has been chosen to host Asia's most
important telecom meeting in 2002 to be organised by the
prestigious International Telecom Union (ITU). An MoU to this
effect was signed between the ITU and the Chinese Government
which will host the exposition.

Ajay Mohan to head Borland India
NEW DELHI: Borland Software Corporation, active in e-business
implementation platforms, has announced the appointment of Mr.
Ajay Mohan, as its country head. Mr. Mohan will be responsible
for overseeing its enterprise software solutions, development
tools and services businesses.
