Postmortem on poll debacle soon: PM
By Amit Baruah
KUALA LUMPUR, MAY 15. The Prime Minister, Mr. Atal Behari
Vajpayee, has said a ``postmortem would be done'' to ascertain
what was behind the reverses the National Democratic Alliance
(NDA) suffered in the just-concluded Assembly elections.
However, in response to a question from The Hindu after a
reception hosted in his honour by the Indian High Commissioner to
Malaysia this evening, Mr. Vajpayee said: ``ab to election ho
gaya'' (Now what, the election is over).
The Prime Minister, who was shielded from more questions by his
security men, met a cross-section of Malaysians at the reception
hosted at the posh Shangri La hotel where he is staying.
So far, Mr. Vajpayee has not made any detailed comments on his
perception of the reverses suffered by the NDA and the possible
implications for the BJP-led alliance Government.
