CARA team visits Sishu Vihar
By Our Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD, MAY 15. The Central Adoption Resource Agency (CARA)
team led by the Deputy Director, Mr. Jagannath Pathi, visited the
Sishu Vihar, on Tuesday afternoon, while one more baby, found
abandoned in Chintalpally village of Mahabubnagar, was shifted
here.
Addressing presspersons, Mr. Pathi said the team had completed
inspection of two more adoption centres - Mission to the Nations,
Kakinada and Priyadarshini Sishu Gruha, Visakhapatnam. `We have
noticed certain lapses during the inspection at Priyadarshini
Sishu Gruha and these were being put in our report.' Asked about
specific lapses, he only said they pertained to `non-maintenance
of records and documents.'
The CARA had been endeavouring to streamline the adoption
procedures and prevent any misuse of adoption policies. `Every
child has a right to family and we should get them one at the
earliest,' he said.
There were 77 agencies in the country working for adoption of
children and there was a possibility of some of them indulging in
wrong doings. `We need to attend to such agencies instead of
blaming everyone involved in adoption. There are some agencies
which are doing a good job too,' he added.
Meanwhile, one baby, aged around three months and apparently
suffering from blindness, was brought to the Sishu Vihar from
Mahabubnagar. The baby was found abandoned in Chintalpally
village, Kodangal Mandal, Mahabubnagar and on the instructions of
the Collector, was shifted to the Sishu Vihar. The baby is likely
to be sent for a medical check-up tomorrow.
