PM undergoes medical tests

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, MAY 20. The Prime Minister, Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee, today underwent several medical tests at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in preparation for the right knee surgery planned for June 7 in Mumbai.

Mr. Vajpayee was at the AIIMS for about an hour after which he returned to his official residence. Apparently, routine pre- operative tests were carried out.

Last October, the left knee joint was replaced at the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai by the United States-based Dr. Chittaranjan Ranawat. On June 7, a similar procedure is expected to be done on the right knee by Dr. Ranawat, again at the same hospital. He will be flying into Mumbai on June 6.
