Lord Hanuman statue unveiled at Ammakkapeta village

KARIMNAGAR, MAY 20. The Minister for Endowments, Mr D Sivaramaraju, unveiled the 36-foot statue of Lord Hanuman on the picturesque hillocks of Ammakkapeta village of Ibrahimpatnam mandal on Sunday.

This statue of Lord Hanuman was constructed by the sculptor, Mr Venkat of Visakhapatnam, at a cost of Rs 5 lakhs with the financial assistance of local philanthropists and villagers. The Lok Sabha Speaker, Mr G.M.C. Balayogi, the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Mr Ch Vidyasagar Rao, the Metpally legislator, Mr T Venkataramana Reddy, and the Nerella legislator, Mr Suddala Devaiah, offered prayers to the deity.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr D Sivaramaraju called upon the people to protect endowments lands which were being occupied by land grabbers at various places. He also urged the legislators to check grabbing of endowments lands in their constituencies.

The Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Mr Ch Vidyasagar Rao, said they would conserve each and every drop of rainwater in the region and grow vegetation on the hillocks to transform the temple into a tourist resort.

Earlier, the dignitaries visited Bandalingapur village of Ibrahimpatnam mandal to lay foundation stone for the construction of houses for the weaker sections. Under this innovative housing scheme, 75 houses would be built with all amenities such as roads, lighting, drinking water, drainage system etc. This scheme is taken up under 100 per cent subsidy scheme by the Central Government.

In the wake of naxalites blasting an MRO office building in Medipally mandal headquarters in the sub-division, the police had made elaborate bandobust for the whirlwind tour of the Lok Sabha Speaker, Mr Balayogi, the Union Minister, the State Minister and other dignitaries. The Superintendent of Police, Mr Nalin Prabhat, personally supervised the security arrangements along with the Additional SP (OSD), Mr N Madhusudhan Reddy.
