In black and white
A PICTURE speaks a thousand words. But his photographs seem to
convey much more - the tenderness of life, emotions and passions
of human beings and an illustration of their lifestyle. Well, his
camera rolls out pure magic and his talents have now come out of
his dark room to be recognised by the connoisseurs.
For a man who has come from a remote village, his art has taken
him to places, cutting across man-made boundaries. Srikanth Alle,
a city-based photographer, has been given the associateship of
the prestigious Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain under
the category, `Visual Art Pictorial'.
The honour came for the portfolio of 15 black and white
photographs based on the life of Araku tribes in the North
Coastal Andhra. His reputation has been further enhanced when the
Society decided to publish some of these pictures in its May
journals.
His work captures the innocent life of the tribals staying in the
picturesque Araku Valley. And the black and white photographs
reflect the deep understanding the photographer has of the poor
tribals and their distinctive lifestyle. The images look more
dramatic due to the strong compositions and quality printing.
These aesthetically well crafted pictures stand out both for
their craftsmanship and emotive qualities.
"My acquaintance with the tribals helped me understand them very
closely and it reflects in the photographs", says Srikanth, a
bachelor degree holder in Fine Arts from Jawaharlal Nehru
Technological University.
