PWG favours armed struggle

By Our Staff Reporter

KARIMNAGAR, MAY 25. Statehood for Telangana would be achieved only through armed struggle and not by launching peaceful agitations, said People's War Group Karimnagar west division secretary, Padmakka.

In a press note, she said the PWG would extend support to all those who were striving for separate Telangana. She said the Government would suppress the Telangana movement if it adopted peaceful methods. She stressed

the need for formation of separate Telangana for better administration and allround development.

The PWG leader ridiculed the former deputy speaker, Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao, for launching separate Telangana movement for political mileage when he failed to raise his voice for the cause of the region. Refuting charges that the naxalites were obstructing development in the region, she clarified that it was only false propaganda launched by the Government and added that the naxalites had never opposed development of the region.

She said the naxalite movement had gained momentum in Telangana region as the successive governments had failed to develop the region. She said Telangana region was backward industrially and agriculturally because of non-availability of irrigation sources. She alleged the Government was closing down several industrial units in the region and forcing the region into backwardness.
