Police raid Medimallasandra, nab four sandalwood thieves

BANGALORE, MAY 26. A special police team, led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central), Mr. Gopal B.Hosur, raided Medimallasandra village in Hoskote taluk on Saturday and arrested four sandalwood smugglers wanted in many cases of sandalwood theft.

Police team searched the village and confiscated 20 two-wheelers and a van. An oil-tanker, which was illegally moving around in the village, was also seized by police.

The names of the arrested were given as Jabiullah (22), Ayas Khan (22), Syed Imtiyaz (35) and Venkataswamy (26). The accused had been reported to be absconding after committing many sandalwood thefts in the City, mainly in the Central Division, police said.

Police are on the look out for owners of the seized vehicles.

Recovered: Hebbal police have recovered stolen gold ornaments worth over Rs. four lakhs by arresting Nawaz Sharief, alias Nawaz alias Thodla (25) of Modi Road at Devarajeevanahalli.

Nawaz, who was arrested in the past, allegedly committed six burglaries in R.T.Nagar, J.C.Nagar, Vijayanagar and Kamakshipalya Police Station limits after his release from the jail.
