Emblem on portals illegal

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, MAY 31. The Government today declared use of its emblem and name of a Central Ministry by private websites as illegal. The move follows launch of a website by a company, India Informatic Infotech, www.surfacetran

sportofIndia. com, whose home page carries the Government emblem and a caption ``with the support of Ministry of Surface Transport'' at the top of the page. It also carries advertisements for recruitments.

An official release said the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (formerly the Ministry of Surface Transport) had neither entered into any type of collaboration with the company, nor had the company been allowed to use the name of the Ministry in any manner.
