Chandra Shekhar to undertake 'car yatra'
By Our Staff Reporter
BHUBANESWAR, JUNE 2. The president of the Samajwadi Janata Party
and former Prime Minister, Mr. Chandra Shekhar, will undertake a
fortnight-long `car yatra' from Puri to Porbandar starting June 5
to make the masses aware of the ``anti-people'' policies being
pursued by the present government at the Centre.
Giving details of the programme at a press conference here, the
national coordinator of the Yatra and general secretary of the
Samajwadi Janata Party, Prof. H. N. Sharma, said that Mr. Chandra
Shekhar will address a series of public meetings during the
course of his yatra.
Prof. Sharma said the yatra will end with a mass rally at
Porbandar on June 19. Apart from Mr. Chandra Shekhar, other
prominent leaders who were likely to address the Porbandar
meeting include Mr. V. P. Singh, Mr. Deve Gowda, Mr. I. K.
Gujral, Mr. Harkishen Singh Surjeet, Mr. Sharad Pawar, Mr. P. A.
Sangma, Prof. Madhu Dandavate, and Mr. Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Maintaining that the NDA Government at the Centre had put the
country on sale while trying to stay in power at any cost, Prof.
Sharma said Mr. Chandra Shekhar's yatra will have nothing to do
with politics or votes.
