Pak. frees 157 fishermen

ISLAMABAD, JUNE 3. Pakistan has released 157 fishermen who have been in detention for two years. Those released include two children. A spokesman of the Pakistan Fishermen Cooperative Society, Haji Ghazanfar Ali Boota, has been quoted by news agencies in Karachi as saying that besides 157 fishermen, the Pakistani authorities have also released 25 boats.

There are another 200-odd Indian fishermen in Pakistani jails. And there are an estimated 229 Pakistani fishermen in Indian jails.

India had released 160 Pakistani fishermen in April and another 63 are expected to be released soon.
