POTHIREDDYPET (Karimnagar dt.), JUNE 3. The Chief Minister, Mr.
N. Chandrababu Naidu, has adorned the role of a teacher and
enquired about the education of children and self-help group
women in this remote village, 50 km from here, in Huzurabad
mandal.
As part of the Mahila-Sishu Janmabhoomi programme, the Chief
Minister organised a gram sabha in the village on Sunday.
Interacting with the villagers, he motivated them to send their
children to school and also called upon them to adopt the small

with the officials. Later, at the gram sabha, Mr. Naidu first
invited the Village Education Committee chairman, Mr. Saraiah, to

When Mr. Saraiah said of the total 289 students in the age group
of 5 to 14 years, 13 were not visiting the school, Mr. Naidu
directed him to call all the school drop-outs and their parents.
He then asked the children and their parents why they were not
going to school. The children also interacted with the Chief
Minister and said they were not attending school due to poverty.
When a boy, Sadaiah, told the Chief Minister that his parents
died long ago and he was staying with his relatives and looking
after cattle, the Chief Minister directed the Collector, Mrs.
Sumita Dawra, to send the boy to the Bridge School and later put
him in the residential school.
Mr. Saraiah said a student from the school had secured highest
marks of 556 in the seventh class examination. Mr. Naidu called
the boy, Anil Kumar, and interacted with him on the dais. He
asked the boy what he would like to become after studying. The
boy replied: `I want to become a teacher'. When the CM told him
that he could earn more money if becomes a doctor or an engineer,
the boy shot back saying: `I am not interested in making money. I
only want to become teacher and transform the future citizens of
rural India'.
Delighted over his reply, Mr. Naidu felicitated by garlanding him
in front of the villagers and appreciated the parents (who are
labourers by profession) for educating their child. He also
instructed the officials to send the boy to a residential school.
Later, the Chief Minister enquired about the literacy of women in
the village with the MDO. When the MDO said about 250 self-help
group women were undergoing literacy drive under the Akshara
Sankranthi programme, Mr. Naidu pointed out that there were about
1,192 illiterate women in the village and instructed the
