3,000 litres of adulterated kerosene seized

BANGALORE, JUNE 3. The City Police, who have launched a major
crackdown on adulterated fuel traders, have arrested two more
persons and seized 3,000 litres of adulterated kerosene.
The accused used to mix kerosene with petrol and sell it to
autorickshaw drivers, police said. The arrests were effected by
the South Division Police. During the last few days, the North
and East Division police had seized huge quantities of white
petrol worth over Rs.13 lakhs and arrested eight persons.
On June 2, the J.P.Nagar Police raided two shops in Yarab Nagar
and seized 1,400 litres of adulterated kerosene. The proprietor
of these shops, Nayaz Pasha (20) was arrested. Two others wanted
in this connection, Izaz Pasha and Fazul-ur-Rehman, are
absconding.
Similarly, the Mico Layout Police raided a shop at Gurappanapalya
4th Main, 1st Cross and seized 1,600 litres of debased kerosene.
Ismail (20) who was found selling kerosene-mixed petrol at a
garage on Bannerghatta Road was also arrested by police.
Recovered
Cubbon Park Police have recovered car stereos and other
electronic gadgets worth Rs.1 lakh by arresting Seenes (24) and
Pradeep (24) of Hongasandra on a charge of theft.
The two youth had allegedly stolen a car from Mico Layout Police
limits. After taking out the stereos and other electronic gadgets
from the car, they had abandoned the vehicle near Begur, police
said.
Arrested
A group of five persons, which had allegedly cheated a merchant
of Rs.1.50 lakhs by promising him that it would supply him gold
coins at a cheaper rate, has been arrested by Peenya Police.
According to police, Shashikanth, a cloth merchant from Gubbi
taluk in Tumkur District, was approached by the five persons who
claimed that they had found hidden treasure which comprised three
kg of gold coins.
They showed him two gold coins and took Rs.1.50 lakhs from him
for supplying gold coins. They asked Shashikanth to go to
Tavarekere in Kolar District on May 22 and took the last
installment of the money he had to pay them. However, without
giving him any gold coins, they fled the scene saying that police
were after them.
Following a complaint by Shashikanth, Peenya Police arrested
Achut Murthy (48) of T.Dasarahalli, Ramaswamy, alias Ramaiah,
(50) and Krishnappa (35) of Vemgal in Kolar District, Seethappa,
alias Narayana, (45) of Jangamakote in Kolar District and Krishna
Murthy (42) of Vijnanapura in the City. Police have seized 57
grams of gold and Rs.500 in cash from the accused.
