Only SAD has a Panthic agenda: Akal Takht chief
By Our Staff Correspondent
AMRITSAR, JUNE 6. The Punjab Chief Minister, Mr. Parkash Singh
Badal, received a shot in the arm when the Jathedar of the Akal
Takht, Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti, said today that only the
ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) had a Panthic agenda. He
appealed to all other splinter factions to sink their differences
and unite in the interest of the Sikh community and the State.
Talking to The Hindu at his residence inside the Golden Temple
complex, after addressing a congregation at Akal Takht on the
17th anniversary of Operation Bluestar here, the Jathedar asked
all the factions to stop ``blowing their separate trumpets'' and
unite under the ruling SAD banner.
The Jathedar sought the release of all the Sikh youths who had
been detained under TADA and were languishing in jails without
trial. He also sought the rehabilitation of those who had
deserted the Army in the wake of Operation Bluestar.
