TRS leader ridicules Cong. Legislators Forum's claim
By Our Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD, JUNE 6. The Telangana Rashtra Samithi leader, Mr. N.
Narasimha Reddy, on Wednesday ridiculed the Telangana Congress
Legislators Forum's claim that only their party was in a position
to realise the goal of Telangana.
Launching the membership drive in the city and addressing a
public meeting at Addagutta, the largest slum in the Twin Cities,
Mr. Reddy said people of Telangana region had not forgotten the
fact that the leaders who had joined the Congress betraying them
in the past were now behind the demand.
Moreover, when they have no power to decide on their
participation in separate Telangana movement, how can they come
up with such a claim, he asked. "If the 41 legislators have any
sincerity, they should first serve an ultimatum to the party high
command and sit as a separate bloc in the Assembly".
Mr. Reddy and other TRS leaders came in a car, autorickshaw and
scooter rally from the TRS central office. They then joined in a
colourful procession near Addagutta, with local people carrying
pink TRS flags, raising slogans of "Jai Telangana", and beating
drums. The TRS president, Mr. K. Chandrasekhara Rao, who was to
lead the rally and address the public meeting could not make it.
The BJP's stand on the issue was puzzling with the Central and
State leaders making contradictory statements. This, after
adopting a resolution in Kakinada and promising one vote and two
States in the elections. The State BJP leaders should question
the Central leadership on why the earliest demand for a separate
State of Telangana remained ignored while those of Uttaranchal,
Chattisgarh and Jharkhand were met, Mr Reddy said.
Referring to the new projects and schemes announced for Telangana
by the Chief Minister, he said these were only meant for
diverting people's attention. Instead, the Government should
implement the Government Order 610 on repatriation of 59,000
employees from other regions working in Telangana.
Mr. Surender Reddy, former Minister, Mr. A. Satyanarayana, former
Hyderabad Mayor, Mr. S. Gopal Rao, former Congress floor leader
in MCH, Mr. S. Yadagiri, Mr. G. Narahari and Mr. Sudarshan Rao,
all TRS leaders, spoke.
