Two taken into custody in Aazam murder case
By Our Staff Reporter
BANGALORE, JUNE 12. Two persons have been taken into custody by
the City police in connection with the murder of a youth in
Shivajinagar on Monday.
A group of four persons allegedly murdered Aazam (29), son of
Jalal, at his textile shop, ``Gunghat'', on Arunachala Mudaliar
Street near Bythumahal Circle in Shivajinagar Police Station
limits.
Police said that a property dispute was the reason for the
murder. Initially, a dispute over the shop was believed to be the
reason for the murder. However, police claimed that Jalal was
into real estate business and was dealing with several property
in the City which were under litigation.
Jalal and Aazam could not settle a property dispute nor could
they give back the money. This might have led to the murder,
police said.
There had been quarrels between Jalal and others. Incidentally,
Saood, owner of the building where ``Gunghat'' is located, had
leased the shop to Jalal. However, Saood had also reportedly
agreed to lease the shop to Ashfaq, brother of Ishtiaq, who was a
former associate of Tanveer. Ashfaq had warned Jalal not to go
ahead with the deal several times, police said.
Police suspect that Aazam was murdered by Ishtiaq, Ashfaq and
Afaq along with their associates.
A special squad had been formed under the Assistant Commissioner
of Police, Frazer Town, to investigate the case.
